Jason McDonald

SESSION 8 - August 24–30

Jason McDonald is an artist working primarily in glass. He uses the vocabulary of glassworking: impermanence, presence, and hustle to craft a narrative that addresses complicated histories. Jason fixes his gaze on topics as diverse as the peoples of the African diaspora. In his studio you may find work that addresses his experience of living in a nation with a deeply racist foundation alongside work exploring deep material curiosity. Jason holds a BFA from California College of the Arts, and an MFA from Tyler Art and Architecture. His teaching credentials are many and growing, and was a contestant on the Netflix show ‘Blown Away'. Jason currently resides at The Penland School of Craft where he is building a production studio he hopes will support his art habit.
